World Traditional Artisans' Forum

What does a "traditional Artisan " mean?

Ans:There are 5 categories in the Viswakarma Community (Traditional Artisans)in India, they are: Carpenters, Black Smiths, Gold smiths, Casters( of metals)and masons.All of them have been doing their respective traditional professions for centuries.The know how is derived from person to person traditionally. So they are called traditional Artisans. They have, by birth, the highest ability/aptitude to create anything they are entrusted.

Traditional Artisans are called as the architects of the modern World. It is fact that there are traditional artisans all over the world,They may be Hindus, Christians,Muslims,Sikhs,Budhas etc.What ever may be there religious belief they are Artisans! creative!! and Here in India We have an Organisation (AD Hoc)in the name and style " FEDERATION OF INDIAN TRADITIONAL ARTISANS (FEDITA)".

we would like to form an appex forum if organisations of Traditional Artisans'in other countries of the world approach/unite us. And also it is proposed to Convene an international (Global)convention of artisans in India in 2009.
