Your name?
Gavin Walker
Your Location (city, etc)
Springfield
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We wanted a place were people could easily read about who we are, what we do, and the services that we provide.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was MedTech Medical Management Systems. It was a website that was previously in existence when I took it over in 2003. I have since revamped it and have been improving it ever since. This website is located at http://www.medtechsys.net
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It is simply the name of our company and describes in a nutshell what we do. Computers are quite powerful today. The problem is getting the computer to do what you want it to do. That is where we come in with Creative Software Solutions.
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Creative Software Solutions is a software company that specializes in custom written applications for businesses who have needs that off the shelf products don't address. We can create custom software for any type of business; large or small. We boast over 38 years of combined programming experience and knowledge.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We have years of experience at another Fortune 500 company that other small companies simply do not possess. Since we are a small company, we have less overhead and can be responsive to your needs.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We plan to grow our business as the Lord leads us. I can easily see us employing 5 to 10 programmers within a few years.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
As small as we are, we must invest our time and resources in a fashion that makes the most sense.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would like to add a blog to my site. I just started a user forum, but I am still trying to decide exactly how I am going to use it.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We don't intend to let out site grow bigger than we can handle. If it starts taking too much of our time then something on the website will have to go.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
We just moved our offices to 3113 S. Pickwick Place, Springfield, MO 65804. The cost of that move turned out to be more than I expected, but we are settling in over there.
What has been your biggest challenge?
As a small business owner, the challenge has always been juggling my work and time spent marketing. I have brought, Cassandra on board to help with the marketing side of things and that has been a big help.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
We just started promoting our website. At this point, the best thing we have done is make the site search engine friendly and make sure the pages have appropriate keywords on them.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Not really, because I didn't know what to expect. Technology has changed in just the few short years I have been working on my website. A flat HTML website is kind of boring by todays standards, so we spruced it up by using Flash.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been up since July, 2005. The site will remain up as long as we are in business. If it generates heavy traffic, that will be great, but most of our customers are located within Missouri.
What devices and platforms have you developed software for?
We have developed software since the days of MS-DOS. Our experience includes all Windows platforms including Terminal Server and Pocket PC. Most recently we have gotten into Web Development. Other areas of experience include Novell Netware, and Xenix - a variety of Unix.
