When did you start your website and why?
I started it in March 2007 to promote and advertise my business here in Spain.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
I am an expatriate Design Engineer from the UK and in Spain can provide all drawing and design services, in 2d or 3d modelled. I can work for English and Spanish companies, in either country. I also provide a rechnical writing service and will design Websites.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
Getting it onto Search Engines, which I am still struggling with.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
Designing it was easy, although the writing part was difficult as the wording had to be relevant and interesting.
What was your biggest mistake?
Probably not getting it professionally designed, written and entered into search engines due to a money shorfall at present.
Who maintains your website and why?
I maintain it due to financial constraints at present.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
It hasn't yet although I think my existing customers have seen it, as well my friends and family in the UK.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
Ecommerce is good, it's the future, I've bought many things over the internet as it's cheaper than shops. I'd like to see more control over who can create and put sites on the net as there is a lot of rubbish out there, as well as dubious content!
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
It's a necessary evil I'm afraid. In my view I think the internet is becoming too complicated for the common person to get into. You need to spend money to get anywhere on it I think.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
They will help when I can get entered onto them, particularly Google as I think it's most people's favourite, it certaintly is mine.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Local Newspaper advert has got me the most local jobs but not the highest paid unfortunately. I have tried emailing companies in the UK connected with what I do but have had very little response, none of it positive.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
The Website, but I'm working on that.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
Make it simpler for the common person with little money to get started with regards to SEO and Site building.
