When did you start your website and why?
I started my website in October 2005. At that stage there was no online mobile phone shop in Namibia and I thought this service could make it much more convenient to buyers to order cell phones online and get it delivered for free anywhere in Namiba.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
We sell all the latest models of Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG. On the website you will see a colour picture of the phone with a summary of features the phone has.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
I think the most difficult part was the initial design and planning.
What has been the easist past of operating your website?
The easiest part would be the processing of online orders. I receive an order by e-mail, contact the Windhoek depot to see if the phone is on stock and forward the delivery address to them for shipment and e-mail the invoice to the customer.
What was your biggest mistake?
Making my prices too low! Many people asked me if the phones were secondhand or refurbished because it was so cheap.
Who maintains your website and why?
I maintain the website myself. I am a website developer and have created many other websites for various clients already.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
Unfortunately people in Namibia is not very keen on buying online yet because we do not have a local credit card payment gateway yet. So it is very hard to operate an online shop.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
I believe internet shops will become more relevant in the future.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
You cannot succeed in selling anything oline if your service is not known to the online shoppers. Therefore it is so vital that your site is ranked high on the search engines.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
It only pays to advertise on search engines if you use the pay-per-click service when your website is new and not established yet.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Newspaper ads and pay-per-click ads

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
