Name of your website?Bailey & Orozco, LLC, Attorneys at Law
Your name?
Howard W. Bailey
Your Location (city, etc)
Newark
When did you start your website and why?
I started the website several years ago, to offer people charged with crimes, offenses and motor vehicle violations in New Jersey, an information souce to identify lawyers who offer experienced representation. Let's face it, when your freedom or license is on the line, would you want to be represented by someone who was new to this type of representation, or who was only doing it some of the time?
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
The website is intended to act as a starting point to educate people charged with a crime or other offense, with their potential defenses and possible sentencing exposure. This carries over into our daily operations, as we offer free initial consultations to further explain the charges, the defenses and the possible sentences in greater detail than can often be explained on our website.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
Creating the website was relatively easy. Trying to keep it informative, current, and easy to navigate is hard. Usually, we take inquiries generated by our clients and submit additional information several times a year, although we are trying to accomplish this more often. Even more time consuming, is trying to translate the information into the other languages we offer representation in: Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. This translation effort is definately still a work in progress.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
Enjoying the fact that clients who retain us are better informed of what they are facing because they took the time to read, evaluate and learn about us, and our experience in handling the type of problem they are faced with, before they ever contact us.
What was your biggest mistake?
In regards to advertising and educating on the web, it was in relying on the advice of one web-consultant group too much. The web is not static. In order to keep the site interesting to both potential clients and the web-bots, you have to offer fresh information and alternative information sources.
Who maintains your website and why?
We currently maintain several websites. This particular website is maintained by Findlaw.com, who offers extensive advertising assistance and is itself an invaluable legal research website.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
Business growth provides the means to offer additional services to clients. Without the web, we would never have grown as quickly as we have, which provided us with the means to expand our advertising on the web. This gave us a bigger market, which brought us more clients. May the cycle continue for years to come.
