Cheyenne Business Directory Interview Name of your website?Cheyenne Business Directory Your name? Pam Smith Your Location (city, etc) Cheyenne When did you start your website and why? I started this website in March of 2007 and I started it for 2 reasons. The first reason I started this website is because I wanted my own home-based business and I thought it would be fairly easy, uncomplicated and successful. The other reason was because I was tired of putting in local online searches for Cheyenne and getting bombarded with information about businesses that are not even close to Wyoming or related to what I was even searching for. Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc My Website is an online business directory for Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was created primarily for "brick and mortar" businesses, whether they had a website or not. What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website? The most difficult part of running the website is submitting url's and links. What has been the easist part of operating your website? Posting the listings. What was your biggest mistake? I am beginning to wonder if I "localized" too much. Who maintains your website and why? I maintain the website because I am basically a "one person" operation. Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website? My business is my website and I think it's too early to tell if it is benefitting me finacially. What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? I don't even know what this is. If it is what I think it is (paying some company to get you better rankings or links) I don't think much of it. What method has been most successful for promoting your website? I believe it's too early to tell. What method has been least successful for promoting your website? Trying to promote it to the very people who could benefit from it the most, business owners. What would you like to see change with respect to the internet? This may relate more to the question on my views on Search Engines, but here goes. I know that I have only had my website for a couple of months and other sites have been on the web for years. They have paid their dues, so to speak. They have earned (or bought) their page ranking. But when I put Cheyenne Business Directory in a search and websites that "may" have a word or two in that search come up before mine, I find it very frustrating. I've gone back 33 pages on Google and websites without those words come up before mine. So, in effect what I am saying is, that is what I would like to see change. There needs to be more "relevance consideration" in the search engines process of searching. Comments: What do I know? I am just trying to make a living by selling a good service at a reasonable price, at least for my area. What is your website address?
