Name of your website?Dingo Bus Charter
Your name?
Andrew
Your Location (city, etc)
Perth
Please give us a short summary of your website?
A simple, easy to navigate site which explains our services in simple terms. Anyone looking at the site will know instantly that we are a bus and coach company offering a full range of services and transport solutions. We are also, I believe, the only bus company in WA that has transparency in our pricing as we publish our pricing on the site.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I believe that in today's market you must have a web presence to be successful and competitive. I think that more and more these days people turn to 'the web' to search for whatever they want and our statistics prove that our website is far more successful than either the telephone directory or, indeed, Yellow Pages and is significantly cheaper than a substantial presence in that directory.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Two years ago, and it was DingoBus.com.au
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We simply took the name of the existing company, Dingo Bus Charter and made it web friendly. All our vehicles are sign written with 'DingoBus.com.au' which also attracts people to our site as well as our '1300' number.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We have adopted the 'kiss' principle so that everyone can navigate our site quickly and find the information they require. 'kiss' is keep it simple, stupid.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
The site is being used to promote and grow our business and will remain part of the business as long as the business exists in it's current form.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We have seen a rise in turnover of over 100% this year alone, 'nuff said.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would look at a more interactive site with on-line booking and payment options. At the moment that is mostly done by e-mail or phone and that requires someone to be available to answer the phone. Online enquiries can be dealt with at any time and so online booking would be good for persons travelling here from a different time zone.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We would simply expand in an attempt to meet the demand, we are a highly motivated team of four who own and run this business.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
There have been no unexpected costs and the only real headache is people phoning us up to promote their business as web designers etc and being hounded by Yellow Pages.
What has been your biggest challenge?
To get to the number one spot on Google search.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Google adwords, without a doubt, followed by advertising on vehicles.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has been a bit more complex than I originally thought and I was surprised at the costs involved in promoting the site on search engines.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
About two years and it will be kept as long as the company remains in its present form.
And finally?
Thank you for this opportunity to link from the World Website Directory and allowing me to express my opinions.
