Why should I submit my NPI to NPINumberLookup?
To simplify finding and providing NPI numbers in advance of the May 23, 2007 deadline. By HIPAA law, "Each covered health care provider [must] disclose its NPI, when requested, to any entity that needs the NPI to identify that health care provider in a standard transaction." However, Medicare has provided no searchable facility to aid in the exchange of NPIs. Hence, this project.
