Name of your website?Cats View of Art
Your name?
Robert Bell
Your Location (city, etc)
Richmond
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Illustrated life stories of artist, scientist, musicians, athlets and social leaders.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Its a great deal of fun to put together a place that people visit and hopefully pick up a little information. Its sort of a hobby, I update regularly. I use large readable text for the comfort of anyone who might stop by.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
About 2 years ago, it was a pure affiliate site. It was beyond my control, I could not change any thing about it. That may not even qualify as a web site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
This site functions under a third person charcter named Professor Longfellow Isacat and that shortened to Cats View.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
The direction of the texts. The Picasso page identifies what motivated the particular art forms and challenges the reader to draw a cat. Picasso's cat is a simple sketch anyone can duplicate and yet the duplicate is of no value and the original quite valuable. The reader becomes aware that there is a path to value.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I don't think that far ahead, my goal is entertainment. The virtual world being what it is these things go on with or without us. That these bits will roam the net forever is a pleasing thought.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I haven't invested any money and doing the site was enjoyable for me as I was healing from a operation. Occasionally someone visits ( I am considering some sort of tracking program that provides info on visitors ). I sell something, thats how I know I had a visitor.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Change for me is not limited by just funding. I am learning the net game as I go and have much left to learn. I could speed up the process but it would not be instantly touchable.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
No is a short but honest answer. Lots of upgrades in bandwidth would be the prime problem. The balance of the process is self adjusting.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Getting familiar with html and java
What has been your biggest challenge?
Second only to getting familiar with the languages is answering the questions in this interview.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Search engine, classifieds, directory
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
When you take a new road you harbor few expectations and thats the fun of life.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
15 weeks for Cat and I don't think it can be stopped.
Why should we offer you any consideration for your siter?
Cat has a different hook for visitors. When someone comes to the site they have a special interest in one of the topics and they're looking to be drawn in and entertained by a subject they already have familiarity with. All matter interrelates and from these relationships comes new thoughts and understandings. This process is both entertaining and stimulating. It forces the reader to think about the subject in new ways and from angles new to the instant relationship. In short visitors enjoy this site.
