Name of your website? (NOT url, http://etc)

www.jettechnical.com

Your name?

Tamara Tharpe

Your Location (city, etc)

Logan, Utah

When did you start your website and why?

January 07. We wanted to use the internet to generate business and interest in our products and services.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

We have several areas that we work with. But before going in to the business model and summary, let me explain the history behind this business. I am the Dean of Computer Science at Stevens-Henager College here in Logan Utah. I have excellent graduate and under graduate students who were having a difficult time finding good employment opportunities due to their lack of experience - not their lack of ability and knowledge. It was frustrating to me to see them having to work at jobs below their potential. I started having some of these students work as lab assistants, web designers, networking consultants. It grew from there. Now we offer services centered around computer technology, programming, website development, and networking.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Having the basic layout that would adequately describe all we do without overwhelming the visitor with too much information.

What has been the easist past of operating your website?

A great staff that can easily assist with the responsibilities.

What was your biggest mistake?

Underestimating the time, energy, and money to start this business formally.

Who maintains your website and why?

Myself and the students. Any one of us who has the time will pitch in and help where we can.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

This is an unknown part because we are new and don't rank anywhere near the top of any search engine. So far our business has been generated in other ways.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

ecommerce and the internet will become an important part of our every day lives.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

It's time consuming and tedious!

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

It seems to keep the big guys and the top and all of the rest trying to stay in the running.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Mailings, newspaper ads, phonebook listings

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

same as above

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

nothing that I can think of off hand

You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:

You can spend millions in advertising but unless you have the staff to return a quality product it will all be wasted.

What is your website address?

www.jettechnical.com
