My Wedding Planners Interview

United_Kingdom weddings My Wedding Planners Interview
Name of your website?

My Wedding Planners

Your name?

Annette Burgess

Your Location (city, etc)

Caersws

What inspired you to launch your own website?

These days my customers want to be able to access the wedding planner information in another way and be able to share it with people that are hundreds (sometimes thousands) of miles from them. The only practical way of doing this is providing a website. It is also a really good way of finding new customers.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This website is my first website. It was made much easier by getting Richard at http://mybranding.info to do it for me. He is remarkably cost effective too!

How did you decide on a name for your website?

When you want to go to the hairdressers you make an appointment at "my hairdressers" - same with the Doctor, Dentist etc. So couples can make appointments with "my wedding planners"!

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The site exists to promote cost effective wedding planning in the UK and to act as an information portal for current customers by utilising a password protected area to store documents, and photographs. It also has an online cost estimator for prospective clients

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Our site provides cost estimation long before the customer needs to contact us. There is no one else in the UK prepared to do this - and we believe that is because couples are being overcharged!

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

This site will exist as long as I and the team are providing wedding planning services, which (God willing!) will be for a long time to come

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

If I am perfectly honest I thought that Richard at http://mybranding.info wanted a lot of money - until I was quoted £25k by another local company! The cost involved has paled into insignificance against the results and the removal of the stress.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Nothing just yet - but we will be adding future content - features - and online tools for people, it is just a case of time, not money

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Oh yes - we have a team of planners and co-ordinators and we are very lucky to have an extensive portfolio of suppliers who are very responsive

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None - Richard detailed everything and it was all very accurate.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Making the decision to invest the money

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

You'd have to ask Richard that one!

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is MUCH easier! But I am sure if I had to actually do things on a daily basis it would be much harder.

What are you most pleased about on the site?

Definitely the cost estimator. (http://myweddingplanners.co.uk/estimator.php) It is a very straightforward way for our prospective customers to get a broad estimate as to what it may cost to hand the stress of their wedding planning over to us. It has already proven a success with those that have contacted us and were surprised at how affordable it is.

Do you have plans for any other websites?

Maybe is the simple answer. We are trying to develop a way of writing a speech (Best Man's speech for example) that will enable people to create the majority of their speech without having to write it all. If we can crack it - we'll pop back and tell you about the new site!

Ebook and Ebay advertising Interview

By Interviewer at 07/17/07 18:14
United_Kingdom business Ebook and Ebay advertising Interview
Name of your website?

Ebook and Ebay advertising

Your name?

**********

Your Location (city, etc)

Colchester

When did you start your website and why?

Started around three years ago as a hobby really, a family friend brought me Dreamweaver which I played around with and learnt a whole load of stuff. Thought up an idea wrote a few of my own e-books which did well on ebay and then I moved on to selling on my own site. Ebookads is for people who use ebay mostly, I found ebay too restrictive to sell certain types of ebook so I went from there.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Ebookads give the ordinary person on the street the chance to have there own web-site, they can sell a product and link straight through to us at a very low cost. We only charge £4.99 per year for a full page of around 200 words with an image. Existing customers can edit for only £1.99

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Ensuring a high search engine spot is high on my priorities and really hard to do, oh the creating was easy and fun too but getting result is what its all about.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Auto responding technology takes away a lot of the monotinous stuff like sending emails and copies of ebooks to customers.

What was your biggest mistake?

As of yet none, or maybe starting this in the first place!! LOL

Who maintains your website and why?

Me, cannoy afford to pay anyone yet.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Extra sales, around 3% of total visits purchase something. I wrote a series of ebooks a couple of years ago and placed them on ebay, got around a 1000 view, but only 19 sales poor return hey!! With a website I can get 10 times that.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Its quite a tricky subject and I think the jury is still out on certain aspects however I have written my site with some SEO techniques, keywords is an easy one, but getting good quality links is difficult.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Helped

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

To begin with linking with sites similar to my own, writing reviews and joining blogs all are good marketing tools.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Too soon to tell.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

I'd like Google to offer free adword to me only!!

Who inspires you to succeed?

My kids, who I adore.

What is your website address?

Ebook and Ebay advertising

[Ed note: Gosh what an interesting name, your parents must have been very interesting folks]

White Wedding Horse for the Groom and White Horse and Carriage hire for traditional Asian Weddings Interview

By Interviewer at 07/17/07 18:08
United_Kingdom weddings White Wedding Horse for the Groom and White Horse and Carriage hire for traditional Asian Weddings Interview
Name of your website?

White Wedding Horse for the Groom and White Horse and Carriage hire for traditional Asian Weddings

Your name?

Stephen Davies

Your Location (city, etc)

Bracknell

When did you start your website and why?

I created this site a few days ago to promote my Wife's business after it became apparent that whoever has control of her Website which I built for her two years ago and has been top of Google ever since had totally wrecked it.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

We provide traditional Wedding Horses for Asian Grooms in the UK and also an authentic Wedding Carriage built to order and imported from the Indian manufacturer.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

The most difficult part was going back through the stats for the last two years and seeing what brought customers to us, then rewriting the page copy so I will be able to regain the relevant links I attained for the other one.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Easiest part to building was that the knowledge I have gained over the last two years has made it much easier to write the copy.

What was your biggest mistake?

The biggest mistake I made was whilst looking for link partners, I found someone locally in a similar line of business and I reasoned that they could pass business between each other if one of them was overbooked. This person as it turns out has been telling lies to my wife about me and is the cause of my Marriage breaking down.

Who maintains your website and why?

This site is operated solely by myself and only I have access to it so that the same problem of her site being destroyed does not happen again.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Benefits of the site have been that over 90% of booking enquiries have been made directly from the email link or phone enquiries.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

Ecommerce appears to be the future. People now use the Internet to find something instead of the local paper or phone book.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

SEO is a priority for me. Without it I would not have built my Wife's business into what it is today.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Natural SEO has been the only advertising used for the business. Without it there would be no business.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Natural SEO is the only promotion ever used.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Having only ever used natural SEO, I have not had any unsuccessful form of promotion.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

A big change I would like to see, is spammers being either heavily fined, or locked up.

What is your website address?

White Wedding Horse for the Groom and White Horse and Carriage hire for traditional Asian Weddings

College of Public Speaking Interview

By Interviewer at 07/10/07 11:14
United_Kingdom public speaking College of Public Speaking Interview
Name of your website?

College of Public Speaking

Your name?

Vince Stevenson

Your Location (city, etc)

London

When did you start your website and why?

September 2006 for the launch of the College of Public Speaking.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

We're a training consultancy working in the Corporate, Public and Third Sectors working with some of the largest companies in the country.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

The most frustrating aspect for me is that our web designer who has done a wonderful job in the design element lives and works in Scotland and uses a MAC product called Rapidweaver. Sometimes there are a few minor changes to make, but because I don't have access to Rapidweaver and the source code, I have to wait until the weekend to contact him.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

I prepared the web brief and the text and our professional designer does a great job of putting it all together.

What was your biggest mistake?

Not personally knowing enough about SEO before we started.

Who maintains your website and why?

Our designer is a friend and former colleague and maintains it for free. A very nice man.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

It's brought a steady stream of quality clients.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I don't see it going away. The web is both addictive and compelling. I love buying things online whereas I was once sceptical of buying on the internet.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Very complex indeed. But slowly I pick a new twist up here and there. It all helps.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

They have helped, of course. Rather a lot of them though.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I use http://www.submitexpress.co.uk

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Managing email promotions.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

I respect people who run forums and it's really annoying when people spam sites. However, I was on a forum a few days ago and I wanted to help somebody build their confidence, but the forum prevented me from leaving a useful url for that person.

You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:

Is web promotion a worthwhile pursuit?

Yes, the benefits are amazing. But it's difficult finding the right marketing mix.

Curved Vision's presentation skills Interview

By Interviewer at 07/03/07 18:12
United_Kingdom public speaking Curved Vision's presentation skills Interview
Name of your website?

Curved Vision's presentation skills

Your name?

Simon Raybould

Your Location (city, etc)

Newcastle upon Tyne

When did you start your website and why?

The website itself started as an online brochure but now we use it more to host the blog we run about how to make presentations and speak in public: it's called TellingPeople after one of our public courses.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

We work for two groups of clients - corporates and individuals. The former get in-house training whilst the latter can use our public training days.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

I wanted to feed the latest blog entry directly onto the front page so that people didn't need to go to the blog if they didn't want to.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

The basic site was easy! Learning html was a piece of cake, although I've not had time to get up to speed on CSS yet.

What was your biggest mistake?

Biggest mistake? Where to start!!?!?

Probably the SEO stuff we did at the beginning - originally the site had no on page SEO, then we re-designed for the engines only.. finally we designed for the readers again and hoped the SEO would work out okay!

Who maintains your website and why?

We maintain it ourselves 'cos it's fun. (Updating the website is a cool alternative to actually working!)

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

It's been the simple shop-window for us. Almost all our work comes to us from word-of-mouth but people have a "check the website" filter too. They need the say-so from friends first and then look online for our details.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

It's a pain. I'd like to find a way of a site being ranked by the basis of the quality of the site/product rather than the quality of its SEO but that's just a pipe-dream, I know.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Helped at the moment - we're on page one for google.co.uk for "presentation skills training"

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I wish I knew! If I did I'd do more of it. :(

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

It's a waste of time to have the web address on business stationary 'cos no one picks up from there, but it's "expected".

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

I'd love it to get less advert covered! It seems everywhere I go I have to mentally filter out half the page 'cos it's covered with ads. Okay, so Google does a good job of making them relevant, but still not relevant enough for me to actually *want* them! :)

What is your website address?

Curved Vision's presentation skills
