What inspired you to launch your own website?
Started a family and did not want to go back to work. So I am trying to build a family buisness that can go through the generations.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
In 2004 and the Cosmetics Fairy is it.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We wanted to be more than another online shop. We wanted to have a identity.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We have tried to create a site like you would a brand, we want it to stand out from the crowed and on it's own two feet.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Just to remain a successful online retail store with loyal customers.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
As with all new business it take time, money and perseverance. We are in our third year of trading and we are only just seeing some promising results.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, we hold what we sell, so we would have to buy more in.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Our hosting site went under so we had a weeks notice to find someone to take it on board. And of course getting found on the internet can be a bit of a headache.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Re-developing the website to keep it moving forwards.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth on the internet, is by far the best promotion we have found.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
The amount of marketing that has to be done and finding out how to do it.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
So far three years. We hope to keep it running till the internet stops!
