Name of your website?Whogopenguin's Guide to Club Penguin
Your name?
Whogopenguin
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Club Penguin is an online game run by Disney (see www.clubpenguin.com). But there are a lot of secrets in the game that are hard to find. My site helps people find those secrets and more!
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Club Penguin, mainly, and if I'm honest the desire of bring known on the internet!
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
That's a very hard question. I have been making sites for a long, long time. In fact, I'm afraid I can't answer that question!
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Whogopenguin was already my Club Penguin name, so it felt logical to name it after that.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I usually update the site more than once a day. Apart from its constant up-to-the-minute updates, it is an easy-to-use, well designed site for users to enjoy. Media such as Flash and pictures enhance the site for viewers even further1
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Just to have a nicely run site that lots of users enjoy.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
My time going towards the site is very consuming but my site is currently being made freely. However, if it got more popular I would definitely pay for and expand the site for new horizons!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Infinitely! The site would be as best as it could get.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I think so, yes - I spend so much time on it already!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I can (and have) spent hours into the night trying to format links etc. There are occasionally problems with my Flash files (.swf) but that has now been sorted out. The site is currently clear.
What has been your biggest challenge?
To dedicate a lot to the site and offering more - but I think I am doing well.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I have only recently been looking into this but now I am. I have been advertising it in person, over other websites by text and soon some banners will be made for people to advertise on their own sites! I am not sure which will be best yet though.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has only been around since February 08 but I don't think I will stop it until at least another year.
Are you satisfied with the content of your site?
In one word: Yes!
