Please give us a short summary of your website?
Thailand-USA.com is an information portal and online community hub for Thais,Americans and Thai Americans with interests, pride, and/or curiosity in both Thailand and the United States of America.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
To Unite Thais, Americans, and Thai Americans in Thailand, USA, and around the world.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
In 2001, launched a freely hosted personal website at http://greenwanderer108.tripod.com/JCM1/ and than launched my own website several years ago at http://www.thaiskale.com to feature my personal music and literary projects.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Depended on my personal interests and goals for the website.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
It's different because I did it, not someone else, thus it is a reflection of my unique mind which no one else has. Not to say it is not similar to what others may have, but it's certainly not the same.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To get traffic and people using it regularly without even thinking about it--because they want to use it and enjoy using it.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far, haven't made any profit, but I think it's about to pay for itself--the hosting that is.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Make a massive Social Networking feature that integrates all aspects of life and living into one.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
With big, you mean money, so if I could hire others to help keep up with demand, than of course.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Promoting the site by filling out long forms and questionnaires similar to this.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting regular visiting traffic.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of Mouth Marketing and SEO for Google.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Didn't really have major expectations to begin with.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
a Few years, and hopefully will keep going as long as there is internet.
Where do you think internet trends are heading and how will that effect your site?
Internet is becomming more mobile and accessible to the masses, thus multi lingual sites and mobile device friendly platforms will be required in the future.
