Texas classifieds South Texas Clasifieds Interview
Name of your website?

South Texas Clasifieds

Your name?

Becky

Your Location (city, etc)

Corpus Christi

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A free classified website aimed at local users in the area known as south Texas. Persons posting a free ad may also add their website for free and many other features.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Felt there was a need for a more local website where one could sell used items. The local newspapers charged too much. My website is, and will be more so in the future, advertisement driven.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website. It was launched in 2004.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Originally, my husband choose the name. Now I have decided to change it to fit my area more and maybe easier to remember.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Nothing really, except I take pride in the fact that I have tried very hard to make navigation throughout the website easy. I know I get discouraged sometimes with websites that are too complicated for the ordinary person. I hope to especially attract the older generation to use the site because it is so much easier than others. Us older folks have a hard time sometimes using and dealing with all this computer stuff and we like to do things that are easier to understand and use.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would like to see it really take hold and go at some point soon. I am just so limited cash flow wise that I have not been able to promote it like I had hoped I could.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

My investment of time has been tremondous, but my investment of money has been very little. If my time was money...WOW ! What a great website I would have!

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

First of all I would want to give the entire website a complete overhaul. I feel I have been limited in what I can do with it. Then I would spend everything I could to promote it and advertise it. I really feel that what I am offering the people of south Texas is a very useful tool.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

If my site got really big, I would do everthing I could to keep up the demand. That would be a dream come true for me. I would work day and night if that is what it took.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Just being a beginner has been my biggest headache. I have spent many frustrating hours just trying to figure out the smallest things on my website. Even tho I am using a host and they have great services, it has been a lot for me to learn. I am proud that even now I know just a tiny little code that I can use once in a while.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Just making the website is, and will continue to be, my biggest challenge.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Most definetly...signs on posts !

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Thought it would be much easier..boy was I wrong !

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It has been 3 years and I will continue to keep it up and running until it just becomes ridiculous to do that anymore. I don't give up to easily.

How are you planning to promote your website in the future?

Anyway and everyway I can...as long as I can keep the cost down.

What is your website address?
