Portal for news, travel, government, business and events in and about Tasmania.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Being a Tasmanian and in the business of promoting Tasmania for travel.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

1995 - www.tasmania.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Name of the State

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We've tried to make it simple, user friendly and easy to navigate.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Ultimate aim is to create income and sell it.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We have only just released the updated portal.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Make it more interactive and a true meeting place for Tasmanians online.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Missed deadlines by technical people.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To keep the site simple and user friendly.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Just announcing and listing it.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Just released the updated portal.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We have it as a limited travel site since 1995. It is the top level domain and the name of the State of Tasmania, we believe it has potential.

Do you intend to persevere until you make a success of the site?

Yes.
