Tanzania orphange Janes Orphans Interview
Name of your website?

Janes Orphans

Your name?

Laurie White

Your Location (city, etc)

Birmingham

Please give us a short summary of your website?

My website is dedicated to the ministry of Jane and James Sanare. They have started an orphange and minister to over 200 children in Arusha Region, Tanzania.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

My parents are missionaries in Arusha and they work directly with Jane and James. I was fortunate to spend the past 2 summers in Tanzania working with Jane and the orphans. I fell in love with them and wanted to inform the world about Jane and her ministry.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website and I launched in in august 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It was the natural choice. Th website is about Jane and her orphans.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It is a lot like other Tanzania orphan sites. My site is very personal. It has a travel diary written by me and my 2 boys, who also traveled to Tanzania with me.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would like to make people aware of Jane and her ministry with the hopes of finding sponsors for the orphans and donors to her ministry.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I know that I am making a difference in the lives of the orphans by making people aware of them.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would get help with designing the site.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Once I complete the site, adding all the needed background information, it should not be hard to keep it up to date by adding to my Blog.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

No unexpected costs. I would like to spend more time working on the site but time does not permit me to work on it as often as I would like.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding time to work on the site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It hasn't

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

2 months. As long as Jane is running the orphanage.

What is your website address?

Janes Orphans
