When did you start your website and why?
We started putting the site together about three years ago, it is ongoing and one of those projects that really should never stop progressing, I suppose the moment you stop expanding and improving any site it rapidly becomes second rate.
We offer an English language therapy based clinic in Spain, for Ex pat residents, holiday makers and more lately for Brits flying over for a few days to get fixed, the site is vital to the operation.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
Not sure how to answer only that we see the site as a world wide brochure for our clinic, we are hopefully using it to establish our brand, we are in a quite unusual business.
Potential clients always want to know our qulifications, and just what we treat and how we go about it.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
Strugaling to get up the rankings with the search engines, trying to work out how a site with no relavance to the search words selected somehow gets to the top.
Also striving to ensure that the content on the site is what the viewier wants
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
The part we have enjoyed the most has been the photography, 80% of all the photos have been taken in house (by Marion) we have received compliments from all over the world and requests from people to use them on other sites, how great is that.
What was your biggest mistake?
I hope that we never made one, many small ones sure but nothing scary.
Who maintains your website and why?
My wife Marion, a friend in the web business in London came over to Spain where we are based and trained her, she already new the basics. He then gave her online back up for about a year, now she just does it !!! What do you think of the site?
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
We receive less telephone calls from people wanting vague information, now they can find the answer to any question on the site.
We think the site offers transparency, we have nothing to hide we run an up market clinic offering a high quality service, we think the site tells our story.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
We have tried to use ecommerce to sell CD's on the site, the result has been terrable !!
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Not sure, we keep getting approached by people who want us to pay them a fortune to do it for us, we find the search engines hard work but we continue.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
In general even through we moan about them like most people, they do thee job, like everyone else we want to be the number one result, but we can only live in hope.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I hate to say it but i think it has been the good old press
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
A few paid for links that promised the world but delivered zero.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
Not so much changes on the Internet as email, we use it a lot, today, just a normal day really we received 180 spams, we waiste so much time.
By the way, I thought Internet should be spelt with a capital I, in the question you use lower case, not sure.
