Please give us a short summary of your website?
Andalucian rugs supply unique Spanish rugs hand-woven on wooden looms in Andalucia, Southern Spain, a weaving technique brought to Andalusia by the Moors over five centuries ago. These rugs are handmade from recycled cotton and machine washable.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We found these gorgeous rugs in a small Andalucian village and fell in love with them. We furnished our home with them and since there was no other company selling them, we decided to start our own business selling them via the Internet. We think they are such a great product being so unique and nice as well as being practical and eco and human friendly.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
We launched our Website, http://www.andalucianrugs.com in 2005, which we have since expanded.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name for our website was easy to come up with as we are selling rugs which are handmade in Andalucia, hence Andalucian Rugs.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
What makes our website different from the others, is that all the rugs featured and photographed are the actual rugs you can purchase. The few other sites which sell jarapa rugs only offer colour choices.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our eventual goal is to keep this website for income.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We are retailing and wholesaling rugs all over the world, so our website is successful and we hope to be in time even more successful.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would spend more money on advertising and paid quality links.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes we would be able to cope no problem with the demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
We have been lucky to not have to deal with any unexpected costs or headaches.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Our biggest challenge was optimizing our website to enable us to be placed on the first Google page for our chosen keywords.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Mainly our optimization and links exchanges.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
We expected initially things to happen quicker than they did.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We have been running our site for 3 years and we intend to keep it running as we believe in our product.
Why do you believe in your product
Our rugs are really good quality and hardwearing. They are all unique since they are hand-woven using recycled cotton and cotton chenille. They are affordable and fantastic value for money.
