Online Auction Site for English speakers living in Spain, Tenerife and Ibiza.
Buy and sell anything at auction or buy now if stated. Same as eBay but for Expats abroad....
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Having lived in Spain for 10 years, I noticed the gap in the market here. Everyone was talking about eBay becoming too expensive and the fact that they could not understand the Spanish site, so I decided to bridge that gap.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website and it has been launched for 2 weeks. Not that you would believe that if you saw how sucessful the site is already.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Huh! Discussions between my business partner and I and our husbands and children. It was great fun...
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Its the only one of its kind.... eBay is in Spain but in Spanish and the expats, not just english but, danish, german, french, living in Spain find the Spanish site really difficult to understand.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to keep the site and hopefully earn a good honest living whilst helping others to dispose of unwanated goods and purchase new goods at great prices.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The same as anyone starting out in business i guess. Its always hard to begin with but if you put the time in and stay positve you will succeed
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would upgrade the site and add a forum to it to enable people to discuss the site and their purchases and sales. Spain is quite a small community and this will bring people together and enable them to make new friends...
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
If you are hard working and positive, you can keep up with the demands We are working together as a family and when the site gets really big we will employ more staff to help.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Nothing really. Advertising is the main costs. We have been offered a grant to help with this so this time next year the site will be big. I like to think positive. I never say if I always say when.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Your whole life is a challenge if it wasnt life would be really boring..
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Radio advertising and mailshots. We have also been offered a slot on a television channel.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasnt. Its just as i expected
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We have been building the site for a few months but only launched it on the 1st March. We will keep it up. Unless obviously we were offered a rather large sum.
Why do you think you will suceed more than other business.
We will survive because both partners are very hardworking positive people. We dont let anything stop us and are very determined to make this site one of the biggest in the world.. Hard work, determination, positivity and a good family backing is all you need to make it big...
