What inspired you to launch your own website?

Moved to Spain with our 6 children and found it hard to find out all the information we needed like where to rent a house, how to get our children into a Spanish school. So after we found it hard we decided to design a site that would help others

May 1st 2007

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Sardines are on every menu at a cafe or restaurant here and i love the colour blue, plus a catchy name!

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Not just text, we have loads of graphics as i think advertising speak volumes if seen and people dont have to read to much.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To provide a good income, i have always struggled as providing enough to support 6 children is hard. Just starting a new business offering web and graphic design.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Time is the biggest expense i stay up to 1am most mornings.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would re-design using joomla as i think its great, i am just starting to read up on it.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes i hope so my wife is very supportive when she doesn't see me every evening as i am updating.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None really, just pro-active hard work

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting customers to PAY and send content for the adverts

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Search Engine Optimisation and joining forums

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I thought advertising revenue would happen really quickly, but no very hard work.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have been running since May 1st 2007 and took 2 months before that to build, I love what i do so will not give up.
