Please give us a short summary of your website?
Basically it's a website about Catalonia in English with experiences and stories from people who havve either lived here or travelled through this region.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
After living in catalonia or about 18 years I decided I had enough information and knowledge on the place to write about it!
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
irst website was started in the late nineties and was a shopping portal.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
That was pretty easy really, I decided on the name as the region where we live is Catalonia and it deals with the life here.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
It has a bit of everything and personal experiences with the Spanish and Catalan people.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I suppose my eventual goal is to keep it for income, it's not really monetized at the moment - I'm just biding my time!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Pretty well actually. The hardest part is getting your site recognized and I've learnt a few good tips over the past few years that have held me in good stead!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'd get some professional writers in and use more money to advertise it.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Hard question really, maybe not but I'd certainly give it a go!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None really although I was going to put a news feed targeting Spain news on the site and they wanted around 500 euros per month! i had to say NO!
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is finding fresh content. I don't post everyday but I'd like to.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Linking with other sites.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
There's a lot of work involved in it behind the scenes which I didn't realise.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Sites been going since March 2007 and I'll continue as long as it take to grow.
What are your future goals for Life in Catalonia?
My main goal is to get my site noticed by more people who have actually lived here or travelled here. These are the people I want to contact for stories and anecdotes about Catalonia.Once I get these people posting then I'll be satisfied.
