South_Africa solar geysers PDC Solar Geysers Interview
Name of your website?

PDC Solar Geysers

Your name?

Sean Walsh

Your Location (city, etc)

Johannesburg

Please give us a short summary of your website?

PDC offers solar geysers (for save & installation) as an alternative to the traditional grid-based electricity geysers installed in most households. Our approach is to provide the best products at affordable prices, which give buyers a return on their investment by receiving a saving on their electricity bills.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The current power crisis in South Africa, where the state energy provider, Eskom, has failed to adequately address the energy needs of the nation. For a country blessed with plenty of sunlight, Solar Energy is definitely the future option.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is the first website.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

PDC Consulting provided a wide range of consultance services including consulting on renewable energy. The move to PDC Solar was the obvious next step.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

PDC Solar offers a highly affordable product, with a professional installation service. As knowledgeable experts in the industry, we can answer all your questions on Solar Energy.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To become the leading supplier of Solar Geysers and solar energy products in South Africa.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Getting a good return on investment is always the key. Our geysers provide clients with a sound return on investment by reducing their energy bills.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I think we're happy with our site.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes. We outsource most of our work, so growth is catered for.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Mostly just red-tape costs around getting the banks and government to support our venture.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Reaching as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Submitting to directories, getting news articles written on our company, speaking to people and putting the word out there.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's a fairly new website, so it's hard to say, but it definitely takes longer to get noticed than we thought.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been running for several weeks only.

What is your website address?

PDC Solar Geysers
