SmashcraB.org - A look at the shadier side of Brisbane Australia Interview

By Interviewer at 08/23/07 12:34

Name of your website?

SmashcraB.org - A look at the shadier side of Brisbane Australia

Your name?

smashcrab

Your Location (city, etc)

Brisbane

Please give us a short summary of your website?

SmashcraB.org - A look at the shadier side of Brisbane Australia. I look at the various cults, religious sects and secret societies around the country and how they influence our government and big businesses.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I wanted to raise awareness of the extent of the influence of these private groups because they affect everyones lives but nobody seems to know anything about them.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first site was in '97, and it was a simple personal home page to teach myself the basics of the web, and amuse my mates.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I just took it from my online handle (smashcrab: for those playing at home)

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I focus on facts, and attempt to keep the site up to date and well organised unlike most 'similar' sites I've seen.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I'm only doing this to raise awareness, and to organise my personal research archive. I have no ads, and no commercial interest for the site at all.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Its early days, it hasn't cost me anything and I'd have spent the time researching anyway so I may as well make my notes available to everyone. I don't know how you'd gauge success in this case. I guess the fact that I've had a few attempted hacks already shows that im on the right trail?

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Unlimited budget hey.. I'd syphon off the funds through dodgy invoices from/to myself so I can eat. And pretty much leave the site how it is. Maybe some profesional graphic design work to make the interface slicker.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, from a technical side its more than capable of handling the traffic. And this has been a life long obsession so I'd keep up the content even if nobody read it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

No costs, just attempted hacks when I started building the masonic lodge directory.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Checking my facts and finding reliable sources for information in a world full of misinformation, propaganda and straight B.S .

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth among my network of friends in australia

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I wasn't expecting the efforts to suppress my information so early in the sites life.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site in its current form has only been running for about a month. I had a decent archive going for about 2 years before this, before my webhost got hacked and I was stupid enough not to keep backups back then.

Should I help spread the word?

Yes, yes you should :)

What is your website address?
