The Engagement Experts Interview Name of your website? The Engagement Experts Your name? Pachard Your Location (city, etc) Montreal Please give us a short summary of your website? EngagementExperts.com is a one-stop-shop for everything that has to do with wedding engagements including wedding proposals, engagement rings, engagement announcements, engagement parties, engagement party invitations and more.~~ What inspired you to launch your own website? There are so many websites out there that cover the wedding itself but none that cover the all important first step--The Engagement! When did you launch your first website, and what was it? We launched our first website about three years ago and it is still thriving today. PerfectApology.com is an informative website about how to apologize effectively. How did you decide on a name for your website? We pride ourselves on learning and researching a topic thoroughly so when it came to wedding engagements we thought that engagement experts sounded right. What makes your website different from other, similar offerings? There really are no sites that offer comprehensive information on all things that have to do with wedding engagements so in that way we are very unique. What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?) Right now our goal is to educate and hopefully earn some income (at least enough to make it self sustaining). Eventually who knows what will happen but for right now we are passionate about becoming the quintessential site for wedding engagements. We are going to see how it goes and take it from there. How does your investment of time and money balance against your success? Right now it is satisfying to see people enjoy our site and thank us for providing them with concise information. If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site? We would probably add more sophisticated programing with more web 2.0 features. If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand? We hope so. If that were to become a reality we would find the resources to keep up with the demand. What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with? None really. The site has so far performed as expected with no surprises. It is still a small site with only about 125 pages. What has been your biggest challenge? Sifting trough all the research and determining what the most important elements are to include on the site and to prioritize the information. We don't have the resources to include everything we want to right away so all are ideas are queued up and prioritized. What method has been most successful for promoting your website? We haven't done a lot of promotion at this point. We are trying to get some media coverage because we have found that it is the best way to garner attention and helps greatly from an SEO perspective. How has running your website differed from your expectations? It has been exactly as we expected although it's probably a little more work than we thought it would be even to get it to the point it is today. How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity? We are determined to have it be self sustaining so we don't envision ever letting it go unless someone comes along and offers us a lot of money for it. We are excited about the challenge of making it successful in popularity and then income. We believe that we need to focus on one thing at a time, so right now it is popularity. Once we achieve that then we can look at the best ways to reach our income goals. What is your website address? The Engagement Experts |
