I Love PA Interview

By Interviewer at 05/23/07 15:11
Pennsylvania local I Love PA Interview
Name of your website?

I Love PA

Your name?

Dominic

Your Location (city, etc)

Whitehall

When did you start your website and why?

I started my website late December of 06 and published it early January of 07. While searching the net for Pennsylvania related information I found it difficult to find what I needed and even more difficult to find it all in one place. I love my state and thought it would be a great idea to add as many Pennsylvania related topics and resources in one place as I could. Thus making it easy for others to see what took me so long to find.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

What I find most difficult is organizing the content in a user friendly layout. Also, finding the time to publish everything Pennsylvania has to offer it's citizens.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

I find staying interested and motivated the easy part. I love to share what I discover and maybe helping someone along the way.

What was your biggest mistake?

My biggest mistake was publishing the site in a hurry. I've recently relaunched in a layout I like a lot more. I wish I would of taken my time to begin with and saved myself a lot of trouble.

Who maintains your website and why?

I maintain my website. Only because I know that in my hands quality will never suffer.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

I don't own a business or expect to make large profits from my website. The goal is sharing. I've added google ads in the hopes of paying my monthly hosting fees, but that's about all I expect.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

Ecommerce is indeed the future. Retailer reports prove this year after year. More and more shopping is done online and it seems this trend will continue. If only I had the knowledge I do now a decade ago.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Most of my visitors come from search engines. I really need to take the time to make my website more search engine friendly.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

They've definitely helped. 75% of my visitors have come from google, msn and yahoo search engines.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I haven't really promoted my website. I find it hard to find the time to publish content, let alone promote my website.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

I guess not promoting my website has been my least successful way of promoting it, haha!

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

I guess I would like to see the access to the internet change. In my opinion broadband access is too expensive. I look forward to the days of a high speed connection for $9.99 a month.

Babymoon Guide Interview

By Interviewer at 05/18/07 21:00
Pennsylvania babies Babymoon Guide Interview
Name of your website?

Babymoon Guide

Your name?

Lisa Petrocelli

Your Location (city, etc)

Allentown

When did you start your website and why?

I started Babymoon Guide in September, 2006. My goal in starting the website is to provide a one-stop resource for parents-to-be who are looking for a last romantic getaway before the baby arrives. Also, as a new stay-at-home mom, I was looking for a way to put to use my backround in travel and sales & marketing, while still being available for my daughters.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Babymoonguide.com provides information about babymoon vacation packages. Babymoon vacations are the "last hurrah" vacation getaways that parent-to-be take before entering (or re-entering) parenthood. The site provides information on babymoon vacation packages at resorts, inns and spas. It also contains suggestions for planning a babymoon vacation along with tips for traveling more comfortably during pregnancy.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

The most difficult part of creating and running my site has been finding the time to work on it. I have so many ideas and things I want to add to the site, but I'm a bit limited by the time I can devote to it each day.

What has been the easist past of operating your website?

The easiest part of operating my website has been attracting great inns, spas and resorts that want to be listed on the site. I was surprised how quickly I started receiving inquiries about listing babymoon packages on Babymoon Guide.

What was your biggest mistake?

Underestimating the amount of time it takes to create a quality website!

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Search engines have definitely helped my website. I get a substantial amount of my traffic from Google.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I'm still testing out various methods for promoting Babymoonguide.com. Certainly sending out a press release about the site was a good promotional move. I've also had success promoting my site within the "mommy blog" community.

Wire it Yourself Interview

By Interviewer at 05/12/07 17:00
Pennsylvania diy Wire it Yourself Interview
Name of your website? (NOT url, http://etc)

Wire it Yourself

Your name?

John Pielecka

Your Location (city, etc)

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

When did you start your website and why?

I’ve been working on the site on an off for about a year, but have just got it online on April 24th 2007. I always wanted to have my own site online, so I went through and investigative process to find out all the information I needed to know to make it happen. Once I found out how to get a site online, what should it be about? I was advised to make it about a subject that I know well so it would be easy to provide useful content to my visitors. Since I have been in the electrical industry for over 20 years I decided to create a site that would help people do wiring in their home.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

My site has step by step wiring instructions and wiring diagrams that will guide homeowners through their home wiring project. They can even ask questions in my forum to help them get the information they need.

What has been the most difficult part of creating your website?

Typing and learning HTML was probably the two biggest challenges in creating my website. I’m used to being out in the field using tools, not sitting behind a desk and typing.

Who maintains your website and why?

I solely maintain my website, and will continue to add new and useful wiring information for my visitors. This will help ensure that my visitors get information that is correct.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I think that ecommerce will continue to explode in the future, when I was in school we did not even know what a computer was. Today my 6 year old daughter gets online and plays games. As the next generation comes forward it will be second nature for them to shop online.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

After my site was online I submitted it to the major search engines, Yahoo and Google both indexed the site fairly quickly. Yahoo gave me results on the first or second page for some search terms based on my content while Google stuffed me way in the background. I think this was due to the lack of back links to my site since it is so new. Getting links to your site is the worst part of this process by far.
