When did you start your website and why?
I started Babymoon Guide in September, 2006. My goal in starting the website is to provide a one-stop resource for parents-to-be who are looking for a last romantic getaway before the baby arrives. Also, as a new stay-at-home mom, I was looking for a way to put to use my backround in travel and sales & marketing, while still being available for my daughters.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
Babymoonguide.com provides information about babymoon vacation packages. Babymoon vacations are the "last hurrah" vacation getaways that parent-to-be take before entering (or re-entering) parenthood. The site provides information on babymoon vacation packages at resorts, inns and spas. It also contains suggestions for planning a babymoon vacation along with tips for traveling more comfortably during pregnancy.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
The most difficult part of creating and running my site has been finding the time to work on it. I have so many ideas and things I want to add to the site, but I'm a bit limited by the time I can devote to it each day.
What has been the easist past of operating your website?
The easiest part of operating my website has been attracting great inns, spas and resorts that want to be listed on the site. I was surprised how quickly I started receiving inquiries about listing babymoon packages on Babymoon Guide.
What was your biggest mistake?
Underestimating the amount of time it takes to create a quality website!
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
Search engines have definitely helped my website. I get a substantial amount of my traffic from Google.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I'm still testing out various methods for promoting Babymoonguide.com. Certainly sending out a press release about the site was a good promotional move. I've also had success promoting my site within the "mommy blog" community.
