Name of your website?

Free Classified Ads for Canada

Your name?

Vahid Chaychi

Your Location (city, etc)

Toronto

Please give us a short summary of your website?

AdsList.ca is a free classified ads which is only for Canada's different provinces and cities. It covers different categories like Merchandise, Services, Careers-Jobs, Community, Real Estate, Internet/Computer, Pets, Music, Vehicles and Gigs. AdsList.ca is free of porn and adult ads and so is safe for families and kids.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I thought we needed a free classified ads for Canada cities and provinces. Although there are some other sites, they are not as complete as they should be. So I created the AdsList.ca.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

The first website I launched was www.mahcom.net. That site doesn't work any more. It was a website about running a home based business.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

AdsList is a good domain name for a classified site and fortunately its .ca was still available. So I registered it and then named the site as "Free Classified Ads for Canada".

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It covers all the cities of Canada and has several more categories. On the other hand, it is free of adult and porn ads. Additionally people can rate and comment on ads. This feature can not be seen in other similar sites.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To make it popular and then sell advertising space.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have several other sites and weblogs. Although AdsList.ca is a very young site but I love it. I spent a lot of time on it but didn't spent a lot of money because everything was done by myself. Any money that it makes will be a profit.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

AdsList.ca doesn't need any changes. Some people say it looks so simple but classified ad sites should look simple. They should not be complicated. Craigslist.org is the best example. Although it is so popular, it is very simple.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

If this happens I will have to rent a server for it to handle the traffic but I think there is a long way for the AdsList.ca to become that popular.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

nothing.

What has been your biggest challenge?

No big challenge.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Emailing the advertisers on other classified sites.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I didn't expect that AdsList.ca becomes so user friendly and easy to post and find. I like it very much.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It is not more than few days that AdsList.ca has been working but the result has been good so far. Those who find it, like to post their ads. I think it will become popular if I spend about one hour on it every day.

What makes you to create new sites after so many years of working on the internet and creating so many sites?

I love to work and help and serve the others. So I will create a site that I think it will be helpful to people.

What is your website address?

When asked "What method has been most successful for promoting your website?"

the site owner replied :

"Emailing the advertisers on other classified sites"

thus publically admitting not only they were involved in spamming people but also stealing other sites'users
