A Nice collection of rustic Amish made crafts and gifts.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The people who's items we wanted to sell. My two kids upcoming college expenses:)
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our first web site was launched two years ago. It's called Wagon Wheels Custom Made. We build and repair wooden wheels for horse drawn vehicles and decor.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Brainstorm session over a couple nights at the dinner table.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We make some of the items ourselves. We're also connected on a personal level with our craft suppliers. We're friends with all of them.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Honestly, ultimately to just travel with my wife. Right now, we have bills and upcoming college expenses for two pretty cool kids.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Recently, it seems an uphill battle. Our leg muscles are getting stronger, though:) These are just tough times for most everyone.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'd include as few more resources for information on our type of business. I'd add a few expensive high tech SEO tools we can't afford at this time.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
After a period of Shock, sure.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Reworking our keywords.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Trying to make our site stand out. Although we're sort of a niche business, we do have competition.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I think submitting to Google, exchanging links with relevent sites, and trying to write good home page text.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
More hours in front of this PC than I ever thought possible.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Nearly a year. Will operate it till they pry the keyboard from my cold, dead hands.
