What inspired you to launch your own website?
the current way of doing business and it's world-wide
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Built first website with yahoo three years ago same name
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Business started in Vermont in 1990, owned another company Black Diamond Sportswear and Double Diamond Equine was a sub company, the name went well with the first name
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I do not offer the standard saddle lines that are typically out there, but offer custom perfect fitting saddles and saddle fitting services. I do not take orders over the website as I believe that contact with the customer is part of what makes it a great experience
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
to grow it and live off it solely. Currently own two small business and they conflict time-wise.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
about even right now but still not able to live on just the equestrian business. Underfunded does not allow for growth that could and should take place. What I do is very unique, getting it out there takes money and time. Currently I do everything myself
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Increase my product lines, increase my showroom size, have in stock saddlery, a more professional mobile unit, more advertising
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
depends on what "big" means. I work with the Amish and custom saddle makers who do provide me products within the a very reasonable time comparitively, custom is expected to take a little longer. I would keep up with the demand just fine
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Slow development of web site
What has been your biggest challenge?
getting changes done on the website in a timely way
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
web site and my calendar for live appearances always translate to sales from the exposure
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
hoped to be able to edit more freely
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
3 yrs, and I do appreciate the exposure a website offers. I hope to bust saddle fitting myths in an effort to help horeses ride out of pain, increase their quality of life and performance, and avoid long term physical and emotional problems that always translate to cronic vet, chiro, farrier and massage care.
