Nigerian Law Resources Interview

By Interviewer at 02/17/08 18:43

Name of your website?

Nigerian Law Resources

Your name?

Mr Leesi Ebenezer Mitee

Your Location (city, etc)

Port Harcourt, Rivers State

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The Gateway to the Nigerian Legal System, Law Research, Law Practice, Legislation, Legal Education, Law Publications, and Lawyers Directory.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Lack of Nigerian legal information databases on the Internet.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

January 2008; the same website - Nigerian Law Resources.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

A name that graphically reveals the content and nature of information on the website in order to facilitate search to enhance its functionality

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

No other website on Nigerian law is as comprehensive; it also has certain unique features. It beats every competition.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it as my life project to be passed on to my immediate family; generate as much income as possible from the subscription-based databases - Nigerian Legislation and Nigerian Lawyers Directory.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I'm just starting this project, and I'm sure money will come with its importance or even indispensability. My initial priority is to develop an excellent resource.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Move the office to the United Kingdom where there are facilities like acceptance of online payments through PayPal and major Credit Cards, reliability of power and international confidence in the business.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, oh yes. Growth in the business will attract corresponding investment in human and material resources.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None yet. Nigeria has one of the worst electricity supply in the world, despite our superabundant oil and gas resources, so I knew I had to provide an alternative power supply (generators) to work my computers almost twenty-four hours. I know the difficulties in researching information in Nigeria.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I'm designing a website for the very first time without any training. It's all DIY (Do It Yourself). This is as challenging as it is fulfilling. I'm buying better website design software. It's fun and great!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Listing in Yahoo! and Google - the two most robust search engines on planet earth. Any search for NIGERIAN LAW RESOURCES lists my website as number one; and a search on NIGERIAN LAW also places it among the top entries.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

No difference yet, because I'm just at the design stage and developing the databases.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Started design from the scratch on 13 January 2008. It's my life project which I want to see blossom as a global resource.

Any other information about your website?

I have just completed the re-design of the Home Page and the layout of other pages, which shall be published to replace the current one as soon as a new software I've just ordered is delivered to me. Thank you very much for this exciting forum.

What is your website address?
