Name of your website?Solve Your Tax Problem Now
Your name?
Allan R Pearlman
Your Location (city, etc)
New York, NY
Please give us a short summary of your website?
http://www.SolveYourTaxProblemNow.com provides information about how the IRS works, how to avoid getting into trouble with the IRS, and things taxpayers can do if a problem has already started.
It also introduces my services (I am a lawyer who represents taxpayers who are being hunted by the IRS.) The website is also known as http://ARPearlmanLaw.com.
Also, I am giving away a free special report titled "7 Big Mistakes Taxpayers Make and How to Avoid Them to Keep the IRS OUT of Your Wallet, OUT of Your Bank Account, and Out of Your Paycheck." To get it there's a signup box on every page, or there is a whole page devoted to it, which describes it in more detail at http://www.arpearlmanlaw.com/AvoidTaxMistakes/.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I wanted people to know that there are things that they can do to get out of trouble, that they don't need to suffer in silence, alone, as so many taxpayers do. I wanted to make myself and my services more available.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched my first website in 2003 or 2004. It was a one-page, "calling card" or "business card" website.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The first, very uncatchy name, http://www.arpearlmanlaw.com, was picked because I was just trying to get onto the internet and had not thought a lot about branding. It arose, in part, out of the "if you build it they will come" mindset, which, people pretty much agree is absolutely not true on the internet.
The second name, http://www.SolveYourTaxProblemNow.com, is very descriptive of what much of the website is about, and it is pretty easy to remember.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
A lot of people who have been to it tell me that there really is a lot of useful information on it.
Plus it has really interesting case studies of some of the cases and issues I've worked on.
Can you imagine a story about taxes that does NOT cause your eyes to glaze over and which is actually interesting? I'm actually proud that some people think that this ordinarily dull topic is, to some degree, brought to life by the information and histories on my website.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To be able to reach taxpayers who really need professional help, and also to develop teaching information for taxpayers who, for one reason or another, don't necessarily need the high intensity attention of a highly skilled and experienced lawyer to represent them, but still need knowledge, information and guidance.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I'm still in the developmental stage... don't know yet.
Fortunately, much of the time, the time spent is on doing things that are interesting, so in a way it is its own reward; but, also, some taxpayers who really needed help (and other people who needed other types of legal help) found their way to me by my website, so it has been a good thing all around.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Getting technical, I want to switch to a php-based site. Maybe use a content management system. The site is built with MSFrontPage, which I don't like any more.
The layout and look could be improved as well.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
That would be a nice problem to have.
