EZ Calligraphy - Computerized Calligraphy and Hand Calligraphy Interview

By Interviewer at 12/08/07 16:15
New York, Wedding: Creative Computer Calligraphy
Name of your website?

EZ Calligraphy - Computerized Calligraphy and Hand Calligraphy

Your name?

Michelle Butindaro

Your Location (city, etc)

Long Island - New York

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our website is a tool to view computerized calligraphy and hand calligraphy services that we provide. We provide services such as envelope addressing, menus, wedding programs, placecards / escort cards / escort sets, etc. We also offer RUSH computerized calligraphy services for the last minute needs of brides and Bar Mitzvah Mom's and Dad's for an additional charge. We also offer calligraphy services for holiday envelope addressing as well.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We were providing our services by word of mouth, we are now not just servicing brides, but we are also servicing businesses who want to give their mailer envelopes the personal touch of computerized calligraphy.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first website I ever launched was Teamdebbie.net. This site was for a friend battling cancer. The site has been disable because Debbie, we are happy to say is cancer free and about to get married in December 2008. We will be offering her our calligraphy services for extra special day.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The most handsome, intelligent, witty, funniest guy I know, my boyfriend, came up with the name or our company. He figured "EZ" is easy to remember that and the whole process is made so fool proof that the process is just EZ easy for the customer to work with us. Hence the conception of EZ Calligraphy.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We offer the personal touch, one on one service, Rush services, which I know is invaluable for last minute changes. We are fast with responses and we are EXTREMELY email friendly which makes life easier for the busiest of customers.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to grow as a small business in a very niche industry. We know our services are very "customer specific" in the fact that if customers are looking for us, they in definite need of calligraphy services. We want to expand to not just offering local customers the value of our work, but expand to offer these services to anyone or any business in the country.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

This year is our first year of web presence. So obviously with that endeavor in mind, there will be a need for investment in technology and services to help get our name out there. Right now we go through growning pains but are well on our way to great success in the industry.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would maximize my efforts on hiring a webteam to take the site apart and make it as user friendly as possible. Our name isnt just our name. We want everything you do with us to be "EZ" "Easy". Website upgrade that would include pictures, even video would be my first area of focus. Also, not to mention SEO, which is key for the exposure.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I would love to answer this question, when IN FACT it does happen :-). Right now we have a dedicated team willing to take this business to the next level.

That would be a problem we would LOVE to have.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

So far, knock on wood, we haven't had any CRAZY unexpected expenses, just some growing pains and lumps from cost per clicks.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Exposure, which we hope to change soon. We want to offer calligraphy services to a broad range of customers.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Pay per click and word of mouth have been tremendous for our growth thus far.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It has been a business in itself to maintain the site, but we are excited for the challenge.

What is your website address?
