Please give us a short summary of your website?
Thousands of wedding favors and wedding accessories to suit every couple's style, theme and budget. We also carry wedding party gifts, bridal shower favors and baby shower favors too.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
In 2003 we got married, and found it hard to find everything we needed in one place. We decided to lauch our website so brides can find "all the little things" needed for their wedding.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
2003 we lauched ectdesigns.com. But because we had no knowledge of HTML or design it flopped. We moved to ebay and an ebay store, became powersellers (littlethings*favors). We also launched in 2005 twoheartsfavors.com which was built with an online store builder, and although successful, the hosting company did not have the tools we needed to expand our site. We then launched littlethingsfavors.com in August 2007
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Everyone can remember the term "little things" and brides are always looking for little things to make their wedding memorable and unique. So littlethingsfavors.com was born
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We offer a massive site, over 3,000 favors and accessories - and we are always adding more. We offer articles, reviews, tips, information, a blog, a monthly wedding contest and much more in the comng months.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our goal is to be successful business owners and be able to use this as primary income for our family. One day even pass the business onto our son.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We have invested alot of time, energy and money. We are just now starting to see the potential in it.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would do a color redesign, and we would hire employees.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, our site can handle the demand of many visitors per hour. We operate under yahoo stores, which is has a very sophiscated back end which could easily handle the traffic and demands.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Trying to develop a store on our own, it has been a learning experience.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning HTML and design
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Article writing, social networking, getting listed in the search engines.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Yes, we didn't think we would be devoted to working on the site almost 24/7
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We will keep the site indefinately. We hope to pass a successful business onto our children.
