When did you start your website and why?
My friend and I wanted to promote our small business by creating a place where people who are interested can go to get more information.
Please give us a short summary of your website.
My website is primarily for people who saw one of our flyers and would like more information, like on pricing.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
The most difficult part is finding creating the actual site because my friend and I have had no previous experience with web design.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
The easiest part is making it visually pleasing. Since we use Geocities, a lot of the things are preset, so all we have to do is pick and match different things to make it look good.
What was your biggest mistake?
This is a hard question, because our website is pretty new. Luckily, we have had no big mess-ups yet.
Who maintains your website and why?
I mantain the website because we decided that I would be able to catch on quickest. Also, since our business is new, we don't have the finances available to have it done professionally.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
People in our area who are considering using our service can check it out. From the site there is more information on pricing, what we do, etc. They can also contact us directly from the site.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
They have not really helped, since our site does not appear on any search engines. However, we didn't put the site online so people could find it, we put it online so people who already know about it can see it.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I have started putting it in many directories and passing out flyers.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
I would like to see less false, innapropriate material.
What advice do you give to prospective website starters?
Use an easy service to start it, such as Geocities, especially if you don't have much experience. And don't pay money to get it started unless you are sure it is something that you will keep with.
