Please give us a short summary of your website?
bambooonly.co is a resource website for all things bamboo. With articles and links to bamboo clothing, flooring, fencing, bamboo accessories, and more, its a one stop shopping site for items made from this fast growing renewable resource.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Have been thinking about for some time and leaning toward products that are earth friendly and sustainable.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
November of this year. Bambooonly.com Just getting started.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Wanted to have the name relate to the products that we will be offering.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
By offering many product categories such as clothing and fencing etc. Not just having one product line. However keeping with the theme of bamboo products only.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Operate and maintain the website for future income.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Just getting started, ask me again in 6 to 12 months. So far very interesting and educational.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Hire a team of webmasters and qualified people to have much more input into the process. Rely more on very technical options.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
As long as our vendors and affiliates could meet demand. Try me, we would make it work.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The length of time it takes to contact so many people that we want to get involved with, and the sometimes not trusting attitude or " just another start up". Costs have been reasonable.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding products to sell, mostly finding a good webmaster. Everyone is a "webmaster"..Go see this guy he is a genius, and by the time you contact him, " I am no longer in that business.". right.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Just getting started. I will rely on other peoples ideas and constantly get professional help as we go forward
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Yes, I was under the opinion I could hire out 99% of the work. Turns out $80.00 an hour is not enough to get everybody's attention.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We started in October of this year. I have put an artificial time frame of approximately one year to get expected results.
