YourBeachShop.com is a family owned business started by people who enjoy a relaxing day at the beach. We carry Beach Chairs, Beach Umbrellas, Wonder Wheelers, Beach Towels, Beach Tents & Cabannas, Beach Bags and other great Beach Products.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
My family wanted to start a small business. We enjoy going to the beach and wanted to started a business catering to our favorite past time.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Yourbeachshop.com is my first web site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
That was very difficult. We wanted a name that reflected who we are. I don't remember how we came up with the name.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Our prices are cheaper then the competition due to are low overhead.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We don't know where this business will take us. I expect we will sell it in a few years.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far, I would say the return on investment has been less then desired. I expect this to be are breakthrough year.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would not change my website. I would increase the advertising budget.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Probably not. We are a small operation and have full time jobs outside of running yourbeachshop.com
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Mainly getting the website up running properly.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting traffic to our website.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Using Google and Yahoo's pay per click programs.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It is much more time consuming then I would have ever imagined.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has just celbrated its first anniversary. I expect to have it up for at least another 5 years.
