Please give us a short summary of your website?
This site is dedicated to the care and health of all Poodles: toy, miniature and standard. There are sections on health, grooming, clipping, dental care, feeding, dewclaws and more.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
To help owners take great care of their dogs and understand what type of care a dog really needs, and to not feel frustrated when training.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first site was dedicated to Pomeranian dogs, launched about 5 years ago in 2004.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I tried to think of something simple yet relevant.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I think that my site is different because it actually goes into detail regarding care and is not just the same generic advice that so many sites give out.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to have a great following of Poodle owners and to update the e-book that I will have on the site as well. I never want to sell my site, ever!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Right now, I put a lot of work into the site without any money coming in for it, but I think that if I keep working hard and offer great content that success will come down the road.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would put in more features and functions, actually I'd probably redo the entire site from scratch with Dreamweaver.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Sure. I have a section where people can sign up to become a free member and I would probably have to spend half my days entering emails into my directory (to send out news letters, etc), but I'd be more than happy to.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None so far!
What has been your biggest challenge?
To create a site that has tons of information, but is easy to navigate and is user-friendly.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I think that content is key.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site is new, I just launched it a week ago and I will hopefully have the site as long as I'm on this Earth!
Do you have a Poodle?
Yes, I have 5 dogs: A Poodle, a Pom, a Chihuahua, a Shih Tzu and a mix.
