When did you start your website and why?
This site is the official site for my first coffee-table book, Batik Inspirations. It showcases the events I've participated and also the testimonials and messages by Ministers from Malaysia.
Included as well are press reviews that we've gotten from both Malaysia and Singapore.
Finally, those interested to know more about batik can purchase the book online here :)
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
When I first published the book, it was merely out of passion. Many people have given me the same opinion as well that when they see the book, they can feel the passion behind it.
That's why we incorporated batik with contemporary fashion, and also with thematic backgrounds.
Of course, after publishing, the idea is to get the book known into the market. As an independant publisher, I think we have done well with major bookstores in Asia carrying it, and there are sales from other continents as well.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
The Batik Inspirations website is my very first project, and if I can humbly say, did reasonably well.
Hence, it's a good reference site of the quality of my works.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
The internet goes hand in hand with traditional forms of marketing. And it can only expand bigger!
Hence, every business that want to expand and grow should look into the internet in someway or rather - either advertising, or getting information, etc.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
We have been ranked quite well with a few words like 'batik book' and 'batik design'. And the number of visitors to the site has increased tremendously since we revamped the site last year.
What is your next project?
As part of my company's vision to promote Asia, my next project is a website to Recognise. Embrace and Celebrate Malaysia at The Malaysia Page . com :)
