Please give us a short summary of your website?
Twinkle Little Stars, inc. is a Non-profit Organization; founded in 2004 to address the every day needs of kids in rural Kenya. We have been providing school supplies, shoes, food and HOPE to the kids of Matetani village in Kangundo and the surrounding areas. Through our program, we hope to improve the poverty & disease situations in our Kenya communities.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I grew up in Matetani village and through the Grace of God and encouragement from mum & Grandma; I have rised above mideocrity. I have been blessed above human expectations and I believe that we are blessed to be a blessing - that's why I wanted to give back through this organization which I founded.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Summer of 2005; http://isoaringeagles.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Based on the name of the organization - founded as International Soaring Eagles and later incorporated as Twinkle Little Stars, inc DBA International Soaring Eagles.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Its unique "earth" background. The fact one of our board members took took time to design it without any professional web master's help/cost. It was a true charity project for a charity program.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To spread awareness about the challenges facing kids in rural Kenya. To raise funds for our programs and to improve the lives and self esteem of many hopeless kids.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The success outweighs our time/money investment. All board members volunteer time & money to further our cause and we have experienced phenomenal results!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would change the design and enlist the site on some powerful marketing portals.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely! The more popular we got the more successful we'd be - our services are life changing and our popularity would mean sufficient funding for us!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Marketing, fund raising, research & development & liason with our team in Kenya.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing and Fund raising for our long term projects.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth, media coverage (Dallas Morning News)and networking.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
We are not getting as many hits as we'd expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
About 2 years and going strnger.
What role does your website play in the success of your organization
A very important tool/component. We plan to set up an online store where people can order marchandise and kids photos from our website. This would expedite our fund raising efforts without utilizing much time.
