What inspired you to launch your own website?
I paint glass and wanted something to add a 3D effect to my art. All I could find was super glue which is good for somethings but you can't use it outside and it get brittle or unsafe expensive uv light. I literally search the world over for something that was worth buying. Everything was to this or that. I found Nano470 Decorative Adhesive in Australia which is widely used for decorating cabinet doors, entry doors and glass of any kind including shower doors, to outside windows. One side of the glass must be clear. You can see the DIY video on my site. I love it, I now sell it to artist and DIY folks like me that need something that we could work with. Without unsafe uv lights or that just falls apart. You will love what you can do and it is so simple.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched my website this November. After I had time to study the effect of the adhesive on my own projects. Of course I love it.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Nano470 is named for it white light curing and 470 light is the purest light you can get. It really opened a "New View" of a modern way to adhere glass to glass. So that is what I named the site "New View Art Glass".
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
This is a new product to the United States. It has never been advertised to my knowledge. The glass work is so easy that anyone can do it. And is Beautiful. My site is simple as it gets. But I know people like me want something that is dependable. My answer my own emails or you can call me and a real person will answer the phone. Soon we will be adding some neat items that DIY will love.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Sell my art and let others know that now theres a adhesive you can use that is safe and easy to use. Here in Kentucky we all know what go green means. This product is just that.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Hummm My art is selling but hopefully the website will payoff. My time is all I have that is free,at least for now. Thank goodness. I do alot of planning for future uses of Nano470. This is only the beginning of New View Art Glass.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would have an ads all over the US, tell everyone in the Glazier business, art world and DIY how good this product is. I probably would send out a small sample to all of them.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes I can keep up with the demand. Nano470 is ready to go if we can get our message out there.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Advertising with flyers and on the web is very very expensive. More than I had expected. Get your product out there for people to see is where the cost is out of site. The headaches come with just trying to figure out what you can and can't do with advertising.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Advertising. We have tools that no one in the world has that makes a job so simple for glaziers. How do you sell it to someone if you can't reach them?
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
It has just started. But I would say get the search engines to get your name out there. That is a large problem. I know it will sell but how do you tell a search engine it will.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Website search engines is the whole world out there. It is overwhelming what it cost.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I launched the site in November. I will keep it up as long as it takes to get the word out.
Have you test the products to see if it works?
I have used this adhesive for a year now and it has not let me down. I used it inside and out. Probably put it thru more than a piece of glass should ever come in contact with. I wanted a product that worked for artist and glaziers.
