When did you start your website and why?

We started TopCollegeResource.com over a year ago. We wanted to build a site that would help people research new professions and have colleges contact them if they wanted more information.

TopCollegeResource.com puts students in the driver seat. If you're considering going to college, going back to college, or changing careers, you can browse TopCollegeResource and learn about different schools and different degree programs. Once you find information that is interesting, you request information from the different schools

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Getting traffic to the site is always tricky.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

We add and remove schools from time to time, but overall, maintenance isn't bad.

What was your biggest mistake?

So far, so good. :)

Who maintains your website and why?

The web site is maintained by an independent contract who has all the right skills, and is affordable.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

We continue to add schools to the site as we gradually try to become profitable.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

It's certainly the way to go. It's getting easier and easier for merchants to get online, so that's a good thing for the economy.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

This is a very tricky area. One has to be careful and use honest tactics so that they don't get their site banned or blacklisted. We recommend doing lots of homework to do things the right way.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

They have helped. As we get more exposure, we're more likely to get a better ranking.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Making friends with people with similar websites, and requesting links.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Print marketing.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Less black-hat SEO techniques.
