What inspired you to launch your own website?

Sharing my knowledge with other writers and readers was the motivation behind creating my website. It also helps with book promotion and is a major means of communication.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched literaryzone.com in the year 2004 because of my interest in literature.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I wanted it to be something connected to literature and after finding that most of the good SEO names had been taken, I settled on literaryzone.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

My website has simple, easily understandable tips for beginners and students of literature. I make an effort to put a bit of humor to lighten things up because nobody wants to read heavy stuff, including me. As a reader said, the website has a clean look, not clogged with advertisements.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I want to keep it as I've invested much of my time and effort on it. It has been with me for five years now so I've grown attached to it.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Websites need time to grow, at least that is what I believe. I just spend a couple of hours a week on it and I hope it will give me dividends when my book gets published.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Oh, I would give it many more articles and enhance it for search engines.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I don't think I would right now with a 9 month old baby.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

No unexpected costs and headaches. My site is simple and concise, and not commercial. Although I do mind when google reduces my PR.

What has been your biggest challenge?

No connected to the website business.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I think giving away the e-books for free for promotion and also having quality content.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It has taken a long time to develop it because I work alone. Maybe I haven't given much time on promotion.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I've run it for five years and hope to keep it till I don't know when.

Replace this with a question of your own

Tell me some quick SEO tips that don't need any programming.

What is your website address?
