Swederski Concrete Construction Interview

By Interviewer at 05/14/07 12:45
Illinois concrete Swederski Concrete Construction Interview
Name of your website? (NOT url, http://etc)

http://www.swederski.com/

Your name?

Mike Marsh

Your Location (city, etc)

SCCI is located 60 miles NW of Chicago & 50 miles SW of Milwaukee near the Illinois / Wisconsin border. We have contracted work in the following states: IL, WI, IA, IN, MI, OH, NE, NV, PA and TX.

When did you start your website and why?

SCCI's BRAND NEW website went live April 16th 2007. Our previous website was poorly designed using Front Page software and completed in house. We hired on a new Marketing Representative who created a story board for the site and outsourced it for coding to a company called Vision Friendly Web Engineering, located in Sugar Grove, IL. The site is a million times more user friendly and allows us to communicate more effectively our services, history, dedication to safety to the public.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Len Swederski Construction was formed in 1985 and incorporated in Illinois as Swederski Concrete Construction Inc, (SCCI) in 1993. As our business grew it became evident that to be successful in the industry we needed to do things better than our competition and offer our customers and employees something special. We have accomplished this by providing our employees fair wages, occupational training, a safe and drug/alcohol free work place, company paid health, dental and life insurance, retirement and profit sharing, and providing them the best and most advanced equipment available to do their job. This in turn provides value to our customers and has lead to the development of long term relationships.

SCCI specialized in the placement of concrete foundations, concrete parking lots and roadways, concrete flatwork and finishes, and concrete white-topping in commercial, industrial, and residential settings.

Training is important in our industry due to increased demands on managers/supervisors, technological advances in systems and equipment and reduced availability of labor coming into the construction industry. As an American Concrete Institute (ACI) certified finisher/instructor and an NCCER instructor for carpentry and concrete, Len Swederski, president of SCCI, and his staff, have provided our crews the training necessary to compete for any high end job in the industry. The percentage of our employees that have ACI certification is probably larger than any in the United States. Through the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Len has volunteered the time to teach ACI classes and provide ACI Certified Finisher exams for hundreds of union and merit shop tradesman in IL and WI within the last 10 years.

Safety is always a priority at SCCI. We currently employ a full time HR/Safety person. Our investment in Safety has paid off with hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance premium savings and reduced lost time accidents over the years. Our safety savings is returned to our workforce by way of our profit sharing program and through special incentives. Our NCCI modifier has been at or below the industry average for over a decade. In 2003, the NCCI rate was at .72. The industry average is set at 1.0.

Drug and Alcohol testing was initiated in 1993 when SCCI became one of the pioneers in the construction industry to implement a zero tolerance drug/alcohol use in the workplace. An Employee Assistance Program and services is provided for our employees. See our Safety page for more information on our policies and awards.

Today, SCCI is a successful full service concrete contractor with the workforce and equipment capability to meet your schedules and to construct foundation work and interior/exterior flatwork to meet or exceed the specifications of your project. Our business is financially strong with good bonding power and ready for your project.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Starting pretty much from scratch was the most difficult part of creating the SCCI website.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

The administrative coding and utilization of Macromedia Contribute 3 have made operating the SCCI website very easy.

What was your biggest mistake?

No mistates yet!

Who maintains your website and why?

Our Marketing Representative maintains our website. If and when more radical changes are made, Vision Friendly Web Engineering will be the primary coder.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

It's a little too early to tell. We are actively marketing the new Swederski Concrete Construction Inc. website at this point.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

Ecommerce and the internet have very bright futures. A lack of limitations means unlimited growing potential for the utilization of both.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

SEO is very useful for quickly getting the word out about new businesses and industry opportunities.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

The "robots" and "spiders" are still crawling through our site. Certain key phrases like "Concrete Parking Lots", "Northern Illinois + Concrete", etc. aren't bringing our website with high priority yet. Given time we definitly believe that Search Engines will help our website.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

The promotion of this website is in its infancy. With a little more time we should be able to tell which methods are working and which are not. Vision Friendly has equiped our website with advanced statistical software that will eventually provide comprehensive details on where users are coming from to visit www.swederski.com.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

The promotion of this website is in its infancy. With a little more time we should be able to tell which methods are working and which are not.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Internet speed better correlating with ISP prices as well as increased wireless satellite coverage. Everyone should have the ability to utilize the internet as a reasonable price with access any where on the planet.

What is the key selling point of concrete?

Life-cycle-cost analysis!! Concrete is environmentally friendly, more durable, brighter, safer, and more efficiently placed then other materials. (i.e. asphalt)

Hidden Cameras, Nanny Cameras, Surveillance and Spy Equipment Interview

By Interviewer at 05/10/07 15:32
Name of your website? (NOT url, http://etc)

Hidden Cameras, Nanny Cameras, Surveillance and Spy Equipment

Your name?

Jerry Tarrer

Your Location (city, etc)

Chicago Southwest Side

When did you start your website and why?

around June 2006. I started my website to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a profitable business. In January of 2006 the Printing plant where I had been employed for 27 years closed it's doors forever. I was forced into a very poor early retirement. I immediately began a search for a Internet Business.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

The Website was provided by Safety Technology. I pay a monthly fee for the website and server. The model is inspired by the founders stumbling upon the popularity of the the emerging and brand new "STUNGUN".

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

The Website was created for me with a template, All I have had to do is the SEO, such as keywords, metatags, articles. It has been very difficult for me to get a grip on the terminology since I didnot grow-up with a Computer and the Internet. When all of my children were in High school the Computer and internet were fast becoming a household word with very few families owning them. Getting traffic is the most difficult part of the website. I am still wotking on that all important feature.

What has been the easist past of operating your website?

Stepping into the role as a website owner.

What was your biggest mistake?

There were 4 other Internet related businesses I tried before the present one. One was Herbalife---a failure. Lasko's books and DVD's. I alos paid thousands to have a website built which still exists but is lying dormant due to the failure on my part to own the script to the website and have to pay the website builder a minimum 2hour fee to have anything done on the website. I could do most of the things that they want me to pay them to do such as add keywords and metatags. My website is actuality being held for ramsom. Beware those of you who are considering have someone build and host your web site for you. Know exactly what the terms are, and have them spelled-out in writing. If you don't know wait until you find out. Demand control of your website and it's script or HTML. If you don't you'll papy through the nose. Remember--there are sharks in the internet waters.

Who maintains your website and why?

The hosting company and myself. The company that I purchased my site from allows me to make unlimited changes to my site and only asks for a fee when I am unable to do it.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

My website is offering me the opportunity to own a business and get exposure for my products that might cost thousands more in unrelated advertising if it were not on the internet.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

It's wide open, a person with the right niche product can make a very good living. If the government doesn't interfere with the internet it can put many business people on an even footing.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

It's necessary due to the persent rules of the game so lets go.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

I love the convenience of a excellent search engine, however the rules of usage for the businessman keep changing.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Article Writing and free classifieds, Blogs.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Direct Mail Advertising

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Don't know enough yet to comment.

You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:

What do your members say is the best and less expensive way to optomize your website and get more traffic ?

Self Defense Products, Stun Guns, Pepper Sprays, Personal Alarms Interview

By Interviewer at 05/09/07 14:40
Name of your website?

Self Defense Products, Stun Guns, Pepper Sprays, Personal Alarms

Your name?

Jerry Tarrer

Your Location (city, etc)

Chicago, Illinois

When did you start your website and why?

I started my website in June of 2006. I was thrown out of work in 1/30/2006 due to a printing plant closing. I had worked at the same location for 27 years. My lifelong dream was to have a business of my own. This unfortunate event left me with the opportunity to try an internet venture. I am a grandfather of 13 children with one new one on the way. These beautiful kids cost my wife and I a fortune each year in various birthday and holiday gifts. The money I have saved for retirement is not nearly enough to support us and help out our Children and Grandchildren.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

I actually have two websites. The first one is: [404 Check: was link to http:/ / www. LiveSafeNow. com, anchor: LiveSafeNow.com] , which features personal safety, and protestion devices. The second web site is: [404 Check: was link to http:/ / www. SecuritySpy4U. com, anchor: SecuritySpy4U.com] which features security cameras, hidden cameras and surveillance products. I take automated orders over the internet, process the payment methods and ship out the merchandise.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

The most difficult part of my website is getting traffic. Developing keywords has become easier lately but getting good page rank is a building process that takes time when you have limited funds.

What has been the easist past of operating your website?

Getting the products to sell

What was your biggest mistake?

Not being well versed on Internet proceedures and protocol. I paid to have a website built in thousands of dollars and when it was complete I discovered that I didnot actually own it. I had to pay the website builders to have any type of change made. It was denied access because the website is on the builders' networks and they don't allow anyone access to their servers. I am not allowed to even enter keywords without paying a minimum 2 hour fee. Know who owns the website before you sign on the dotted line. That website is being held for ransom in case I want to do any SEO, I have to pay, pay, pay. The owner of the web building company is ruthless.

Who maintains your website and why?

Safety and Technology has partial control of the website. I like the deal I was given. I have to pay a monthly fee, but I get to do all upgrades, links, changes, etc.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

This is a starter business but I am already receiving visitors and sales.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

The future of the internet and ecommerce is wide open.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

I like it, but am trying to master it at this point before the methods change again.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

I don't have an answere for that at this early stage.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Article Writing

What is your website address?
