VinylLetterDecor.com offers decorative indoor and outdoor vinyl lettering for your home or office.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
My sister began her own vinyl lettering business in Denver. I had never heard of vinyl lettering before, but when my sister's business skyrocketed from her local parties, I took notice.
What exactly is Vinyl Lettering?
Vinyl Lettering is a indoor decorative twist from the commercial vinyl business signs you see everywhere. Instead of buying an expensive piece of wall art, personalize your space with a custom designed quote or phrase that's meaningful to you. Add in your favorite font and color that matches your room, and you have created something fabulous!
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The 3 basics of my vinyl lettering website. Vinyl, Letter(s), and Decor. Couldn't get any simpler than that.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I offer a custom design center complete with a lettering tool as well as a very competively priced product.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Being a single mom, my goal is to build this business to a level where I can retire from my full-time work and stay home with my kids.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
In any business, you have to spend money to make money. But, I feel like my investment of money and most importantly, time, has contributed to the success of my business. I've created a website that is pleasing to look at, navigates well, and offers everything I want it to.
What's the most popular item on your site?
Everyone is excited to create something of their very own, so the custom design center is by far the most popular item. The custom design center is where you can type in your favorite quote or phrase, then see the way it looks in many different fonts and colors. Once you get it looking the way you want, then you order it. I get orders for not only people's homes, but businesses order as well.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely! I have many resources I can tap into from manpower to equipment.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
As a web designer myself, the custom lettering tool was the only thing I couldn't develop myself. The challenge was finding someone who could do it for the amount I was willing to pay.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Most customers find me through Google. I appreciate this FREE search engine, because I can promote my site with little or no cost.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
The site took longer to develop into what I was picturing in my mind, but now that it's up and running, the site is easy to maintain and upgrade as I choose.
What have you enjoyed most about your business?
I enjoy most seeing how creative people are when designing their own vinyl lettering. Their designs are fantastic and I enjoy making their personal design a reality.
Besides indoor vinyl lettering, what else do you offer?
In addition to the indoor vinyl lettering, I also offer those neat vinyl stick families you see on vehicle windows around town. What a great way to show how proud you are of your family. We've just started adding stick figures to the site, so stay tuned for many more cute stick figures to come!
