Please give us a short summary of your website?
What you will find on the Magic Valley Flea Market Website is information for vendors, photos from previous flea markets, a comment page, area hotels for people can stay at and the most important thing is the information for the public to see what will be at the Magic Valley Flea Market and other events that will be going on with the flea market.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
What inspired me to the Magic Valley Flea Market website was to provide information at a 24 hour basis for the public. If someone wanted to see pictures from the website then they would be able to see. If a vendor wants to see the application and would like to attend they can print it out and send it to the promoter.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launch the webpage in October 2008 which was the first flea market of the season.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I figured to stay with the name of the Flea Market and transfer it to the website. Figured it would not confuse people if you had two different names.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
the site is all done by me and there is no other person putting information on the site.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My eventual goal it to maybe add to the site you can do and application over the web and submitt it, but mainly it will be used for a informational purpose only.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far I think the investment of time has work out very good. It has brought many people to the flea market and giving them very good information about the flea market and upcoming events.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would not change one thing in the development part of the flea market. So far from my point of view the way I it going it is working out for me and the vendors.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The advertising of the event outside of the webpage... Advertising has become one the worst thing that a promoter has to deal with the price rises for no reason.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Being the best promoter and getting as many people at the flea market during these ruff economic times.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Free advertising, the 1/4 page flyers that are out and word of mouth.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
There really hasn't been and differed expeciations with the webiste. I just feel it helps the public understand what will be at the flea market and what special events maybe going on there.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have started the website in October 2008 and I will run it until I stop the flea markets.
