Your name?
Roger Julias
Your Location (city, etc)
Waimea
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Video site made by us at Hawaiian HD Video to show Slicks Rental service
What inspired you to launch your own website?
As a videographer, I approached an interesting business and he liked the ideas.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first site was launched in 1995, things have changed a bit. I think it was a "Weird Things" site, before funny pics were everywhere. More recently I started my business and did the site- www.HawaiianHDVideo.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I named it after the business
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Slicks Harley Rentals- They offer the same great bikes but are at a better location and offer free transportation
My site - The videos... The photos.... I'm updating it soon...
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To get more prospective customers who know about our service. I seriously want to work with good businesses and see them do well. Slick, for example, great guy, great service, I really want his message out there, if it is, he'll do very well.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We've already seen a few inquiries for Slick Harley Rentals. I've been appraoched for various work for Hawaiian HD Video.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Slicks is just as he wanted it, really. I'd like mine to have more flash elements... I'm working on that.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Ha Ha, that's a problem I'd like to have. I think I set them up to handle a lot of traffic.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Actually, I was very surprised at the lack of hassle. Getting where I wanted to be on Google took an extra week. Sometimes, even if its on paper and agreed upon some people expect more than you can do, but the majority of people are very happy.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Just learning the difference between making an okay site, and making one which really gets people to respond to it.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Using video, blogging, going with Adwords, secret tricks :), and word of mouth.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Yes, mostly in good ways. People do not know the time demands for a good launch..
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Just This year, I intend to have a long career using them to help businesses.
My favorite part of the process:
Seeing how happy the sites make them, esp when the calls start coming in!
