When did you start your website and why?
When SAPO Club offered the new yachting activities expanding branches, to over 40,000 affluent travellers, all registered members from GCC countries at our organization SAPO (www.sapo.com)
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
A not fancy, but very convenient in navigation, categorizing the luxury yachts cruising Mediterranean and world, plus indicative travel schemes, from the very first opening page!
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
Creating was not tough, as we will improve the web site, but the running of it, concerns only the traffic :)
What has been the easist past of operating your website?
The administration panel that offers to opportunity to update data at every single moment, providing accurrate information to the navigator.
What was your biggest mistake?
Not sure to define, as the site is not that fancy for the product we sell, but would not be search engine friendly and easy in navigation otherwise. So the mistake would be to the experts to judge!
Who maintains your website and why?
Not yet defined :)
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
Only from the traffic from the Overture paid listings, as we are keen to have traffic in more regions than USA. Our clientele basis is in Middle East and Asia!
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
As new generations familiarize with the convenient shopping through the net and as long image galleries are getting more realistic, people will prefer the e commerce in most business fields.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Not sure to tell. Sorry.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
None help, the net needs time as we see... :) None listing so far in the dmoz, none promotion in the google.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
We had results from Overture in an average USD 250/month. Not from google, so we stopped it!
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
Google paid advertisement. Disactivated keywords, keep charging us and none result in traffic.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
A better control to business that are not authorized or licensed to sell their services or products. It is common to collect inquiries from other irrelevant individuals because of their great traffic, when they have nothing to do with business. For example a company with a fancy name 'yachting something' as comes in the top listings, forwards the requests to us, who .. are not listed high, but can offer top quality products & services.
