Please give us a short summary of your website?
Celebrating the Bean is a book all about coffee. A whimsical trip through the history of the bean, different ways to brew it, recipes. The very first page is a testimony. The book is my way to witness God’s awesome power, my silent messenger.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Initially, the promotion of my book.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
October, 2007. My homepage gives the surfer a taste of what my book contains, also a direct link to my publisher. I plan on adding more exclusive items to my site in the future.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Silent messengers- a way to witness Gods word or message in an unspoken, however impactual way.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
It is unique, as every book should be.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Income, of course.. although the personal satisfaction of doing it all myself has been very gratifying.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Time consists of early rising & booting up the computer. I work well in the pre-dawn hours. As of now, I have very little money invested in my website.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would develop the additional gift items for my website, & add more pages- all within a three month time frame.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes- currently my publisher handles all book sales/shipping. As for my items, I would simply incorporate Paypal onto my site, & make sure I had adequate stock.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None, as of yet.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Keeping an adequate supply of coffee in my kitchen cupboard for my personal consumption.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Linking my url to free Christian websites.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Not at all. I am thoroughly enjoying the experience.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
One week(!) I will always keep my presence on the internet..if i only had a few sales a month, I could still reach somebody who needs God.
Why did you take time out of your valuable day to complete this survey?
Actually, I completed it twice, not having put http://in my website address(!!)I enjoyed the survey- I also believe in 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'.
