Your name?
Paul Fischer
Your Location (city, etc)
Tampa, Florida
Please give us a short summary of your website?
New auction venue that's unqiue in that it combines both static auction style listings with Live Streaming Broadcast technology.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I am a former eBay Titanium Seller and was inspired by fellow eBay sellers to build the next best thing.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched PillBot.com in 2003 a price comparison search engine for pharmaceutical drug prices. PillBot.com was hailed by Money Magazine as one os six webbsites "working wonders on the web"
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Bid - Self explanatory - "JIT" means "Just in Time"
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
50+% lower in fees than eBay. Over 15,000 categories and sub-categories and a stunning design which is clean, classic and uncluttered with NO ads that send users off of BidJit to seller competitive sites. We allow all users to link to their own off BidJit.com stores however, do not allow links into Amazon or eBay stores.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Grow! Grow! and then Grow some more! We don't plan to sell it, just make it grow bigger and stronger with the support of our User base.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's not about money - it's about success. Money comes naturally when you offer users every available tool in their arsenal to help them become successful!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would not change a thing on our site (as it's always a work in progress) what I would do with an unlimited budget is buy national television ads which focuses purely on "brand" recognition. My main two markets (initially) would be Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Los Angeles.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
YES! We have the technology humming along with ZERO bugs. As we grow, wWe would begin to employ people who wish to be part of a team. Those who join the BidJit Team would be those who "care" about the users and how to constantly improve what we do to make our users feel at home on BidJit.com
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Do we have 1000 extra pages of text as it's not a short list:-) The first "migraine" was dealing with program developement, the second was site design and ease of navigation, the third was beta testing the site for four months straight and working out the bugs (we were infested for two months) and last, but, not least settling on the final site design.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting the users to our site to take a 30 Day FREE test trial.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Blogs, users who are onboard writing about us and spreading the word that we exist, text links on major news outlet sites, Google and Yahoo pay per click ads and word of mouth.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
No, it only improved with time. Once we completed the beta test, we then revamped the site design for two straight months until we we're happy with the colors, navigation and ease of use.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We launched on Monday, May 26th. We're three days old as of May 29th:-)
